Our valuesUniversité Bretagne Sud stands out from the others because of its human size and the quality of the interactions between students, staff and businesses. Proximity, performance, team spirit and audacity permeate throughout all of the practices of the university.

Closeness and proximity

What distinguishes Université Bretagne Sud is its human size. It recognizes the simplicity of the relationship between students and staff, as well as its proximity to economic, cultural, associative and political partners. There is a real "cohort spirit" that the institution is committed to developing. It is in this spirit of conviviality that the university welcomes and accompanies its members. As soon as you enter the institution, a buddy system is also implemented to facilitate the integration and adaptation of newcomers. Pairs are created: third-year students mentor new entrants.

Performance and competence

It is a whole set of new pedagogical services and methods that are developed for the benefit of the student: Interactive voting boxes, continuous grading, theatre classes, simulation of interviews, internships from the first year... Here, academic learning and the development of know-how and soft skills are combined. The results are unequivoqual !  According to the list published by the media and based on student promotions, the university ranks in the top 10 of French universities that best inserts its students into the workforce after a Master.

‘Doing things together’

Team spirit and "doing things together" are present in all areas of the university. Mutual assistance and collaborative work between students, teacher-researchers, and services are privileged.  This team spirit is also reflected through the partnerships that the institution commits at all levels: cultural, scientific, economic and the collective experiences that our students are experiencing throughout their journey.


While the creation of many universities goes back several centuries, UBS was founded in 1995. And it was necessary to be daring to create at that time a 4th university in Brittany. This story unwaveringly marks the spirit of daring and youthfulness that today animates the establishment. In 20 years, the ability of UBS to "dare" has enabled the realization of large projects. Among which: the development of 3 university campuses, the creation of an advanced technology platform around composite materials, the opening of the first Cyber Security Center, illustrates the audacity that UBS wishes to inspire to its students, PhD and personal so that everyone can experiment and realize their projects.
