French courses for allOn the Lorient and Vannes campuses, Université Bretagne Sud UBS offers a complete range of courses in French as a foreign language (Français Langue Étrangère FLE) with the objective of providing an introduction and also more advanced knowledge of the French language and culture.

UBS was awarded the FLE quality label which recognises Excellence and Quality in teaching French for non native speakers.
Awarded jointly by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the FLE quality label focuses on five areas : reception - premises - management - teachers team - courses programmes.

 

 

Courses in French for foreign students

The course is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

  • Courses with attendance in the classroom and courses by distance learning
  • Varied resources: booklets specially designed for each course, books from the university library and online resources which can be consulted on the university teaching platform
  • Personalised teaching and personalised monitored learning carried out by qualified and experienced teachers

An intensive course for foreign students enrolled at UBS

This free one week intensive course is for all undergraduates and PhD students and non-French speaking students enrolled at the South Brittany University. It takes place in the first two weeks of September on the Vannes and Lorient campuses. Objectives:

  • Facilitate linguistic and academic integration
  • Prepare the positioning test before the start of the courses during the university semesters

Courses during the semester for foreign students enrolled at UBS and for the public

This course during the semester is aimed at all non-French speaking students enrolled at South Brittany University. After a compulsory positioning test, two groups are created with different levels: A2/B1 – B2/C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Objectives: reinforce and improve French spoken and written skills and prepare for the DELF and DALF examinations

  • Number of hours: 40 hours per semester
  • Credits: 2.5 ECTS per semester
  • Duration: 10 weeks per semester
  • Location: Lorient and Vannes
  • Price: free for UBS students
